Bad Math

I wasn't going to blog about this, but since this is the second time I've read it... ...

Simon World and Angry Chinese Blogger are confused that the PRC government is expecting 1.97 billion passengers during the Spring Festival (i.e. Chinese New Year), since the PRC population is a mere 1.3 billion people.

Hello??? 0.985 billion passengers to their destinations, and then the same 0.985 billion back home. Or something similar to that. Seriously, I'm hoping that it's tongue-in-cheek when they're writing like this: unfortunately, it's not a very funny joke.

Simon and ACB are both intelligent bloggers, but numeracy is obviously not one of their strong suits.
